Benjakitti Park : Bangkok’s Green Space that Amazes Everyone

Formerly a tobacco factory, the new Benjakitti Park now spans 259 rai (102 acres). The goal of this urban forest project is to establish a new ecosystem that will enhance city life. The objective is to provide a natural environment where trees, bushes, and animal habitats flourish thanks to a sophisticated system of water channels.

During the wet season, the unpaved grounds of the park may be able to soak up as much as 128,000 cubic metres of stormwater. In addition to that, it operates as a water treatment facility that is capable of daily production of up to 1,600 cubic metres of purified water.

Lumpae, Lampoon, and Kheelek trees, amongst others, will be among the native species that will be planted in order to establish a natural forest setting.

But wait! Benjakitti Forest Park is connected to the historic tobacco factory building, an urban forest life museum, and a museum honouring Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. All three museums are housed in the same structure.

Lumpini Park, a well-liked public park located in the Pathumwan District, will soon be connected via a bike path as well as a skywalk after the project is completed.

The creation of new parks will be beneficial to the city, its inhabitants, and a great many other living things. It provides a place for migratory birds to rest while they are here, as well as a place for our children to play outside and get some exercise. Most importantly, it improves the quality of the air that we breathe.

The Benjakitti Forest Park is open every day from 5 in the morning until 8 in the evening. Those who are staying at Center Point Sukhumvit may easily find it within a five-minute walk, and once you get there, you’ll understand that Bangkok does have locations where it is quiet.

If you stay at Lub d Bangkok Siam and wish to have a visit at the park, you can easily travel from our hotel by taking a skytrain at National Stadium BTS Station to Asoke Station which will be a short walk. Super convenient!
