My favourite hostel chain : Lub d [Guest’s blog]

Comfort, Cleanliness, Atmosphere, Location, Service, Amenities, you name anything and Lub d will have it for you. Lub d literally means Sleep Well in Thai Language and they don’t compromise with it at any cost.

I had my first experience with Lub d at Lub d Makati, Philippines and after that, I became a fan of their hospitality. I have started to compare their kind of service with every single hostel I stay in. They have become a benchmark for me in terms of quality hostels.

I will share with you my experience of Lub d Siam, Bangkok. I stayed with them for 2 nights and at the end of my stay, I didn’t want to check out.

Lub d Siam is situated right near the BTS National Stadium station in Bangkok’s premier shopping district, Siam Square.

I checked in at the hostel around 2:30 pm. At the reception, they greeted me with a big smile and asked me for my passport and within a minute they had my key card and free wifi login Id, password ready. He told me about the hostel rules and gave me a quick overview of the hostel.

Lub d Siam is a multi-story building so someone from the staff accompanied me to my floor and showed me my room. In my mind, I was thinking ” this hostel is huge” and I got really excited when I saw a pool table even though I am really bad at it. The hostel seemed to be very elegantly designed. I don’t know about you but I like industrial designs.

The hostel seemed very spacious and I love when hostels are spacious. The staff member wished me and left after showing me my room.

When I entered the room, the first thing I appreciated was how clean the room felt plus it had fresh towels, free drinking water, a locker and a hairdryer. After a great shower, I went out to eat something at their cafeteria and I was really happy to see a vegetarian option in their menu.

After my meal, I talked with a few other guests and made some new friends. I also enjoyed a game of pool which I lost very badly but I am improving day by day.

Later, we all went to Khao San Road which is the party street of Bangkok and they didn’t forget to order a coconut for me. I was really happy that one of the staff members remembered the conversation where I explained to them why I don’t drink.

The hostel is centrally located and every famous place is easily accessible from the hostel. There are various modes of transportation available from or nearby the hostel. The hostel staff can also help you with booking a Cab or motorbike using the Grab app, they can talk to the driver on your behalf as very few drivers speak English.

The next morning I went out and explored the amazing city of Bangkok, the staff helped me with selecting the places and guided me on how to reach there. They also advised me to take a boat ( yes boat ) from a nearby boat station. I explored the city like a local and by taking the boat I also avoided the traffic.

When I came back at around 10 p.m. one of the staff members told me that they will be celebrating a staff member’s birthday and invited me to be there at the reception at around 10:30 p.m.

The staff is really friendly and caring. They go out of their way to make you feel invited in their hostel, city and country. If I have to describe the experience in one statement “I felt like a family member at Lub d.”
